The saltarello is a tradition courtship dance from Central Italy, widespread especially in Marche, Umbria, Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise regions. At the end of the seventeenth century, the term "saltarello" also spread to central-northern regions (Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Tuscany), although it did not indicate the same type of dance.
